Michelle Obama to Appear on The Colbert Report

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

After you're done writing off your last pointed tip bolo knife purchase (whoever said being a Laotian hitman would come back to bite you at tax time?) be sure to catch Michelle Obama's tax night (April 15) appearance on The Colbert Report -- part of "The Colbert Report: Doritos Spicy Sweet Pennsylvania Primary Coverage From Chili-Delphia - The City of Brotherly Crunch!"

We'll have the video available the next morning, so if you miss it, be sure to check back here.

  1. How many ways can "just words" be twisted?

We can't fix what is wrong with our hurting country if we are too proud (or too rich) to see that there are problems. Senator Obama sees the hurt, sees what is broken and, in my opinion, that is the first step in moving forward to solutions.

There are many in our country with little hope for the future. They may not describe their feelings as "bitter" but they do feel resentment. I see it everywhere I go.

Faith and the right to bear arms? Yes, we do cling to those freedoms we hold dear. The right to bear arms, not just for hunting, but for safety too. How sad! I remember when we slept with the doors open at night.

  2. Yeah, go ahead and try to frame Obama as the elitist in the general election against McCain, the King of Lobbyists. The problem with Karl Rove's analysis and yours as well is that McCain is on the wrong side of all the issues that matter most to Americans right now. So who's out of touch here? Obama's Harvard education coupled with his modest, far from elitist background, is an asset to the race when people want someone intelligent enough to know the difference between the sects in Iraq and charismatic enough to heal America's bad reputation in the world. I can't wait for the general election and the debates.

Oh and cool Michelle Obama, props for the Colbearrr

  4. There are those in the Democratic Party who like Saturn will consume their own children. Let us not, with one misstep condemn the only candidate who has spoken honestly and openly about the connection between poverty and racial strife.

And, if any of you "on the fence" voters out there have a question about judgment, leadership, and the moral stamina to Not leave our sons and daughters bleeding in the sand, I leave you with this: Which of the three remaining candidates cast a (unpopular at the time) vote against the Iraq? I rest my case.

  5. Uncle Sam missed the point, as did plenty of people and Obama apologized for being a little inartful in his words and allowing those with political axes to grind an opportunity to distort the context of his message once again. I see that Uncle Sam is grinding away himself. All Obama was trying to say is that when people are bitter - and Hillary and McBush tried to say that Pennsylvanians aren't - they turn to the things they know for a feeling of safety, guns, the Bible, and it's easier to blame outsiders (read Mexicans) for their economic plight. Please, Uncle Sam explain to me where he's wrong on that assertion"

  6. Obama's "bitter" comment, which was not well structured still has truth to it. For many years, the American Government seem to look away from those that don't have jobs.

  7. I am bitter! I am bitter that we are in a recession. I am bitter that we are still fighting a war and our troops are not able to come home. I am bitter that under the Bush administration the wealthy was given big tax cuts. I am bitter about the state of our education system, No child left behind Act is not working. I am bitter that a politician speaks the truth and is bombarded with attacks that he is unpatriotic, elitist and out of touch.

It seems that anything Sen. Obama does is not enough to stop the critics. He has to walk on water, I guess, but then again when Jesus did that people still don't believe.

  8. Actually the comment in context says it right that in these desperate times people who have less are turning not to the government for help but to religion and guns for security. In many small towns across America where jobs are being shipped overseas and economic woes are harsh realities, people are frustrated with the way the government is doing business. They would rather rely on things they know will not let them down.

  9. We will see when the people who feel bitter go in the privacy of the voting booths and cast their votes for what they believe.

  10. The Obamas would have us believe that we have misconstrued the senator's recent comments about working class Americans. That Sen. Obama did not mean to imply that they were Bible-thumping, gun-toting bigots. It is simply that they are too uneducated and unsophisticated to grasp his grand vision for America. And the only possible reason for rejection of his message must be the result of some moral or intellectual defect on their part.
