Confirmed: Hillary Clinton to Seek the Colbert Bump this Thursday

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

It turns out that Chris Matthews either has amazing precognitive abilities, or heretofore under-represented investigative journalistic prowess.

Regardless of the source of his information, it turns out that the Hardball host was correct: Hillary Clinton will be appearing on The Colbert Report this Thursday.

Her appearance follows last night's interview with Barack Obama's wife and aspiring first lady, Michelle Obama, and will cap off Stephen Colbert's  week long trip to Philadelphia.

So what do you think?  Will the Colbert bump be enough to rocket her to win the Democratic nomination?

  1. Napa Girl - Clinton had plans for her campaign...that went bankrupt because the unexpected happened and she didn't have a plan. Key campaign managers were fired and demoted because unexpected things happened and she didn't have a plan. Her kitchen sink strategy (that I personally refer to as the Tonya Harding Tap) is all she has left because she did not plan to run against a Democratic candidate this strong and cannot beat him by standing on her own merits, thus she must kneecap him down to her own level...even if it means our team will lose in November and Oksana McCain will take the victory.

    Hillary Clinton's plans snck.

  2. Meh, Hillary did the same thing when the Texas and Ohio primaries came up with Stewart. I truly hope Colbert bashes her for doing this. I really do. If you're reading this, Colbert, do it! Do it! I'd love to see her get outwitted by Colbert. He could easily do it.

  3. is it me or is it that colbert and stewart are trying to push clinton into a motivation by going into big primaries by having her on their shows? i dont know if its colbert and stewart that invite her or she invites herself. i think itd be fair to have both candidates on in the same week but to have just one days before the primaries, it seems that theyre against obama and even attack him more than her from what ive seen the past few weeks, joke or not.

  4. Clinton has proved one thing and one thing only to me, she can't be trusted! Think about it, she clearly has poor judgement. She stayed with Bill Clinton even after he cheated on her over and over again. She voted FOR the Iraq war and won't say sorry for it. So, poor judgement? Check!

She's a liar, I could name any number of examples where she has lied, but to make it easy "ducking sniper fire" anyone?

Finally, she has proven her interest is not that of the USA, but her own personal wanting. She is willing to destroy any chance we may have of getting the White House back in '08 if she doesn't win the nomination. Quite frankly the math doesn't add up for her. Obama has won 2X's the number of states as her and leads by a healthy margin in the popular vote. The reality is the only way she gets the nomination is if by some miracle she can convince the super delegates to reverse the clear will of the people. Yet she contuines to try and destroy the likely nominee of the party.

Quite frankly any respect I once had for the Clintons has long since gone by watching their "do anything, say anything" tactics to win against all odds. She doesn't care about the party nor you.. or me. Hillary Clinton cares about Hillary Clinton!

  6. First Lady Hillary Clinton regarding southern voters who hadn't toed the line:

“Scr*w ‘em,” she (Hillary) told her husband. “You don’t owe them a thing, Bill. They’re doing nothing for you; you don’t have to do anything for them.”

Perhaps a tad elitist? Or simply bitter?

  7. The Colbert bump works both ways. It is a tool of justice. No one who appears on the Colbert Report should expect that his viewers will blindly endorse their political aspirations simply by an appearance alone.

The Colbert Nation knows that appearances can be deceiving, in fact, that's why they are the Colbert Nation, because they believe in the power of honest deception.

Now, if a candidate like Hillary Clinton comes on his show and attempts to deceive the Colbert Nation deliberately, savvy Colberites will immediately recognize and reject the feigned unintentionality of her intentional deceit.

That's why we trust Stephen Colbert, because he is clearly undeceptively deceitful. In other words, those who speak the truth are liars! We, members of the Colbert Nation, know the truth when we don't hear it!

  10. Hurdles, see below a listing of Hillary's accomplishments. She has always championed the cause of children and no one should fault her for that, I don't. Beyond that her life has beem embroiled with all sorts of scandals which mostly originate with her time with the Rose Law firm;

    Earned every Girl Scout Badge
    National Honor Society Member
Attended Wellesley College, President of the College Republicans
    Valedictorian
    Graduated Yale Law, 1973
Interned in the House of Rep. Judiciary Committee, Watergate Scandal
Taught at University of Arkansas Law School
    Joined Rose Law Firm 1976
Cattle futures trading, turned $1000 in $100K
Became embroiled in the Whitewater S&L scandal
    First Lady of Arkansas
    Brought Chelsea into the world
First female member of Wal-Mart board
Streamlined the Whitehouse travel office (Travelgate)
First Lawyer to be First Lady
Dismissed value of stay at home Moms and cookies
Found time to join “The Fellowship”
    Cover of “Vogue”
Dodged imaginary sniper bullets in Bosnia
First First Lady to testify before a Grand Jury
Stood by Bill, Monica probably was not standing
    Chaired Children’s Defense Fund
Failed to Bring Healthcare Reform any further than nowhere
Elected Senator to New York although she had never actually lived there…
    Helped 9/11 victims
Not creating jobs for New York State, so much for campaign promises…
    Continued to champion Children’s issues
Supported Bush’s war in Iraq, at first, then reversed course.
    Ran for President...

Look, the woman has contributed, but she has also become the sort of political animal that we don't need anymore of. Changing sides every time it suits her on purpose and skirting the law is not an accomplishment, it's doing what Richard Nixon did. We the people have to do better than that.
