John McCain on The Daily Show This Wednesday
This just in!
John McCain will make his thirteenth -- thirteenth! -- appearance on The Daily Show this Wednesday, May 7. That's more Daily Show appearances than any other guest in the history of ever!
What is the deal with John McCain and Jon Stewart. Why don't they just get married and have a politically confused baby already? Huh?
Obviously, we'll have clips from the show up here first thing Thursday morning. Until then, here's a clip of McCain from his last appearance back in August...
What do you think Jon should ask the man who just might become the oldest white Christian man ever elected president?

I would ask him about his education. He seems to be uneducated. To my research, this man has a BS degree, and that is IT. Life experience or not, this man is not qualified to be the president. Show us the credentials.
I would ask him this:
"Donald Rumsfeld is legitimately wanted for international warcrimes. This is real. He has been served with subpeonas. If you became president would you turn him over for trial in the world court?"
"If not, why not?"
In general I would say to Jon Stewert: Stop being so nice to this guy!!!!!!!!! 600,000 people have DIED in a war McCain helped start! I don't care if he's funny, the things he has voted for in the Senate are horrifying.
Why did McCain enter politics when he apparently took no interest in any political, economic or social issue before doing it??? At least, he gives no indication of any in his otherwise interesting and candid memoir, Faith of My Fathers. The only remotely political issue he writes about there is Vietnam, although he never tries to discuss why we were there or what could have been accomplished there that would have made the ordeals of POWs such as himself worth it. Did McCain HAVE any political philosophy before he first got recruited as a candidate?
I am an American citizen, but I was born in Iran. I would like him to sing that song about bombing Iran--unplugged and seated. Also, ask him why two years ago in Davos he told James Rubin that we should negotiate with Hammas, and now he is accusing Barack Obama of proposing to do like that. AND if you are really gutsy, ask him how President Bush's glutes smell like these days. :-))
Not a question but a note. Pronunciation of the Japanese city of Kyoto is not "Kee-yo-to" but "kyo-to", the "ky" and "yo" is essentially one sound and one syllable. Jon keeps pronouncing this wrong and it's a very typical incorrect pronunciation! He normally gets everything else right!
Ask him why, if he was so upset with Bush's mishandling of the war in Iraq, he did not run against Bush in the 2004 Republican primaries.
Make him clearly define "victory" in Iraq, and explain how to get there from here. With specifics, not polemics.
Ask him about Rev. Hagee's antisemitic remarks, which, unlike his anti-Catholic remarks, he has not apologized for.
Does Senator McCain think that his experience, judgement, and personal appeal would be good enough to win the general election, without the support of the Religious Right clergy?
If so, then why did he associate himself with them and accept their endorsement. Many independents like myself agreed with his previous assessment of them ("Agents of Intollerance"), and feel he has tarnished himself by that association.
Jon should bust the narrative that McCain's a moderate who just pandered to conservatives to get the nomination.
How can he call himself a moderate based on 3 issues -
campaign finance reform, global warming, & tobacco regulations - when he's consistently been very conservative on nearly everything else?
In May 2003, McCain wrote: "Thanks to a war plan that represented a revolutionary advance in military science, to the magnificent performance of our armed forces, and to the firm resolve of the President, the war in Iraq succeeded beyond the most optimistic expectations." Asked whether Iraqis would greet us as liberators, he replied, "Absolutely. Absolutely."
Media Matters: "McCain has voted for cutting federal funding of family planning clinics that counseled pregnant women on abortion and has supported a ban on late-term abortion. He has consistently received zero ratings from NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood. In 2000, hard-line social conservative Gary Bauer actually endorsed McCain over Bush because he said McCain assured him he would appoint pro-life judges to the Supreme Court"
"He has opposed extending the assault weapons ban, federal hate crimes legislation, the establishment of the International Criminal Court, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, pro-labor legislation, ergonomics rules, lawsuits against gun manufacturers, and benefits for gay partners. He has supported privatizing Social Security, conservative judicial appointments, the teaching of intelligent design in public schools, tax cuts for the wealthy, and the posting of the Ten Commandments in public schools. On national security, McCain has consistently proven himself to be one of our most hawkish senators."
