John McCain on The Daily Show

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

Don't forget to tune in to The Daily Show tonight to see John McCain's historic 13th appearance on the show.

Or do forget. What do I care? It's your business.

UPDATE: What I've learned from this interview so far -

  1. He's not sure what his Secret Service code name is, but thinks it's "Jerk."
  2. If he were to wear a propaganda t-shirt, it would have to be glow in the dark.
  3. John McCain has an excellent sense of comedic timing.
  4. McCain's out of context "100 years"quote was taken out of context.
  5. Politics is dissimilar to to bean bag.
  6. Dwight Schrute? WTF?

Many thanks to Sgt. Pepper Politics for live blogging McCain's appearance in the comments below. And many thanks to him for not linking to his own blog in every comment.

  1. Dear Mr. Stewart,

Please think more carefully before you have John McCain on your show. You allow him to come off as a great guy to have a beer with and the last thing we need is another president chosen for that quality. From watching your show I have come to believe that you understand the tremendous harm that the Republican agenda has done to this country, yet you fail to confront John McCain on these issues. One example was when I thought you were going to ask him about the crazy right wing religious leaders whose support he has sought, rather you asked him to denounce George Bush. Another example was when he mentioned the woman wearing the t-shirt that said he didn't represent her, and rather than asking him about his refusal to recognize women's reproductive rights you just blew it off. I can't believe that you would want John McCain to win in November, so please stop doing anything that could help him do that.

  2. i really love the guests chosen for this show. jon is fearless in his interviews which is a real gem in navigating today's "topsy turvy" world of politics, and other topics. we can always depend on his forth right views being shared, and his ability to give even the most controversial subjects fair and interesting as well as entertaining fodder. as for mc cain, (god bless his heart) the rep. party couldn't have chosen a better nominee. i for one tho, have seen enough of what this party intends to envision for our country. the thought of another term of a figurehead style govt. is waaaay toooo scarrrrrry, and i would totally understand someone having a temper, having spent that many years of his life in a POW situation. (watch out for that torture treatment) obama '08

  3. Please invite Dr. Paul back on the show and ask McCain to appear with him. People are fundamentally misinformed about the difference between Republicans and Neo-Conservatives. Because of Bush's failed policies, Americans have come to believe that Republicans are warmongers and Democrats are, ya know, not. Lets elevate the debate here guys! Lets give the viewers of the Daily Show the opportunity to see for themselves the choice they have here. In McCain's own words, "Ron Paul is still in the race ya know"...

  4. Greg, One last comment and then I will quit. In regard to "approving the content," you apparently did not come across this response from Ron Paul.... http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=1025

Greg, I can only offer my opinion to that response....What a great example he is to all elected officials in our country. It's my wish that some day all members of Congress will have just an ounce of Ron Paul's intellect and integrity and courage. I have been utterly blown away by how much I have learned from this man...... Here's to the future!

  5. Please support a Republican debate between McCain and Ron Paul on the Daily Show.

Give the American people their right to see the naked truth which the communist mainstream media censors!

  6. I have no intent of voting for McCain nor any interest in his policies. But I do respect that he served his country. And unless you spent time in that Vietnamese prison with him you should shut your mouth because your ignorance is deafening.

In fact, McCain was given the opportunity to walk out of that prison and go home as a goodwill gesture during the initial stages of the peace talks and he turned it down.

I think he is nutjob and would be a disaster for this country but I'm not about to cast aspersions on his military career. Sounds an awful lot like what Rove did to Max Cleland. They were actually able to convince idiot republicans that a man that gave 3 of his 4 limbs in service to his country is not a patriot.

You should be very careful about

  7. What a flippin bozo. This guy is DANGEROUS to America. He want to invade IRAN for what? He says he want to cut taxes, but his votes don't show that. He wants AMNESTY for illegals. He is pro UN. Is this guy really a REPUBLICAN???

    Vote RON PAUL!

  8. Greg come up with something else your starting to sound like a racisism conspiracy theorist. I mean really, if it were true: Paul 1 Mccain over 5000, Obama 50, Hillary, more than the national deficit Keep digging. Lets see them all debate the real issues. Ron Paul will debate real issues not go on a witch hunt. He graduted high school a long time ago. Why do you think they all avoid him? They have you right where they want you. He wants to set you free. That would not be in their best interest. It would be a dream come true to see a debate where he could really be heard and not blocked out. Wake up America!
