John McCain on The Daily Show

Don't forget to tune in to The Daily Show tonight to see John McCain's historic 13th appearance on the show.
Or do forget. What do I care? It's your business.
UPDATE: What I've learned from this interview so far -
- He's not sure what his Secret Service code name is, but thinks it's "Jerk."
- If he were to wear a propaganda t-shirt, it would have to be glow in the dark.
- John McCain has an excellent sense of comedic timing.
- McCain's out of context "100 years"quote was taken out of context.
- Politics is dissimilar to to bean bag.
- Dwight Schrute? WTF?
Many thanks to Sgt. Pepper Politics for live blogging McCain's appearance in the comments below. And many thanks to him for not linking to his own blog in every comment.

i agree with everything you said after your first sentance, demonax. Jon is just being respectful to his guests
i still side with lil' bush on this one. If no one votes, we can have what everyone wants: 4 more years of dubbya!!!!!
Love the way Jon Stewart attacked Tucker Carlson on Crossfire a while back, and then he becomes McCain's butt boy. If you think McCain is a conservative and for small government, you need to have a look at his voting record and the bills he has sponsored. He also believes it's our job to protect Israel and attack other countries. The earmark thing is a joke. That money has already been spent. It's spending that matters. McCain doesn't want to cut spending. He has no clue about economics. His "spiritual adviser" is bat-shit crazy.
Regardless of who you're rooting for or what side of the political fence you are on, it is time for all Americans, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents, to come together and unite in expressing their personal farewell sentiments to George W. Bush.
Whatever you choose to say, here's your chance to say it.

I am voting for McCain because
#1 I am NOT a socialist like Obama and I realize that socialism has failed in every single country this world has ever known.
# 2 Gov spending is out of control. Look at the earmarks requested by Hillary in 07 and Obama in 07 (2.3 billion and 91 million). Compare that to the amount in earmarks requested by McCain $0!!!!!!
I can't remember ever seeing a more disappointing interview on this show. Jon turned it into one prolonged joke - literally - making wisecracks about things that were desperately serious (like McCain's "100 years in Iraq" comment) before dropping that topic like a hot potato and moving on to the next "Now let's share a best-friends-forever laugh about THIS" subject.
My worst nightmare is John (McSame) McCain. He's not a "maverick", he doesn't know what "straight talk" is and he gets a pass by the media. Chris Matthews has licked the bottom of his shoes numerous times. His campaign staff is made up of lobbyists. Every time he says something stupid, he was "taken out of context". He also doesn't support the troops, just like 90% of the Republicans. Check out their voting records on iava.org.
I got the impression Stewart was letting the audience figure this one out. He'd repeat one of McCain's simplistic answers, just for clarification, before moving on. But I was thrilled to learn from McCain that Hamas was just born evil, ready to destroy, and that nothing we've done affects them.
This election's been going on too long. I can't take it anymore. This country's so far in debt and so intertwined with corporations that all this election rhetoric is worthless. I'm not endorsing Gravel, but he spoke the truth at one of the debates when he said his fellow candidates' promises were empty, because we have no money to pay for them (i.e. universal healthcare).
"It must be really hard for McCain, a moderate, to run. He is essentially a moderate republican- something closer to a classical libertarian than a conservative"
That is a great way to say it! Anyone who thinks McCain is another Bush or calls him a "war-monger" has really not put any effort into reading about him. Seriously guys, you're American... stop listening to Howard Dean and think for yourself. If you do- you'll realize there's many more important issues to debate without trying to label candidates (Rep. or Dem.) and take cheap, vague shots at them.
McCain- I love your books and can't wait to see you and Obama together on-stage talking about what's important! Hope everyone is ready to listen and take the time to be thoughtful.
Jon!! I'm surprised at you. McCain appears on your show without wearing a flag lapel pin - AND YOU DON'T EVEN MENTION IT!!! Know you love the guy, but com'on!! I want a bit about that and NOW.
