The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: You Probably Don't Understand the Iraq War

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

Former Bush Administration Under Secretary of Defense Douglas Feith was on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart tonight to set the record straight on the Iraq war. Apparently we were not mislead misled into war. I believe him. Unless he's misleading me now...

Anyway, Jon started summer early by firing up the grill and sticking Feith on it. Listen to the defense of a man who was in the room when all the planning went down and decide if it flips your script.

  1. Its nice to see a real conversation about questions and subjects that CNN and Company should have been asking long ago. But I guess CNN couldn't bring up such topics out of fear of being un-imbedded, or offending their corporate sponsors. Americans shouldn't have to rely on a fake news show to get real issues. Bravo Jon.

  2. This man is REALLY good at running in circles while chasing his tail on stage. Jon, you were wonderful! Your questions were well thought out, intelligent and brought up points half the population would love to ask this dim witted administration. So, KUDOS to you!!!!! I believe this man had a hard time LISTENING to your questions, not just hearing that you (Jon) were talking. All of his responses made him sound just like the professional 'mouthpiece' we would expect from this administration. Thank you for posting the full interview.

  4. Jon, you are a true diplomat. You wanted to lay into this guy, but you stayed reserved & polite under the circumstances. He is definitely another puppet of this administration. He couldn't talk himself out of a paper bag let alone give credence to this travesty in Iraq. Bush tried to use diplomacy? Yeah right. I remember that moment, too. Loved your footnote comment..."Makes for very slow reading". Is this book found in the fiction part of the library??Or is it found in "Pandering to Idiots" section?

  6. The released unclassified NSC Principals Meeting on Gulf Policy memorandum to former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill dated January 31, 2001 CLEARLY lists (Tab C) an Executive Summary a "SECRET" "interagency working paper" with plans for a "Political-Military Plan for Post-Saddam Iraq Crisis." This was seven months PRIOR to 9/11. So, for Feith to contend, and for Stewart to acknowledge, the suggestion that the False Flag Ops surrounding 9/11 were justification for the invasion and occupation of Iraq is absurd. What is now hard-fought-for public record indicates the wheels to invade the Middle East, initially Iraq, were rolling LONG before 9/11. EVERY American should carefully examine the events of 9/11. Planes alone did NOT bring down the WTC. How is the "official" story any less ridiculous than those who proffer conspiracy theories?

  8. The show did a great job of editing this interview.

But this is the man who was quite proud of how cleverly he eviscerated the Geneva Convention during an interview with Philippe Sands for the May issue of Vanity Fair. He should probably be facing a war crimes trial instead of selling a book.
