The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: You Probably Don't Understand the Iraq War

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

Former Bush Administration Under Secretary of Defense Douglas Feith was on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart tonight to set the record straight on the Iraq war. Apparently we were not mislead misled into war. I believe him. Unless he's misleading me now...

Anyway, Jon started summer early by firing up the grill and sticking Feith on it. Listen to the defense of a man who was in the room when all the planning went down and decide if it flips your script.

  1. One more thing -- Jon, go on the Alex Jones radio show so we can hear more uncensored insightfulness from you in a longer format -- we get podcasts in Japan. Domo arigato!

  2. Bizzaro-America -- Jon Stewart is representing the people and doing real interviews while the "real" news shows are talking about crap... Too bad had to mention the book at the end, but at least he torpedoed it a bit with the footnote comment. Japan gives this interview 2 katana blades up.

  3. Too bad the major perpetrators weren't part of the interview, too. But Doug Feith will do for now. Stupid, little, self-serving shit. He's right up along Paul Wolfowitz, who can only "share blame unless he spreads it around"-his own words.

  4. That was a wonderful Interview and Jon did a fantastic job. It was like watching a kid get caught with his hands in the Cookie Jar and trying to blame it on the person that made the cookies and put them there in the first place.

Oh wait, are they going to be able to understand this analogy?

  5. It is so refreshing to have one of these arrogant men who have infested the Defence Department and the many Presidents offices put to the point of a truthful acusatory tongue. It was good to see him squirm. Shamefully the media elite have abdicated their duty of relentlessly exposing the NeoCon's Master Plans and cabal. This NeoCon was undone and uncloaked by Jon ~ In who America's sensibilities are well pleased.
Thank You, Jon for speaking truth to power and shaming those in the supposed real media who fail to probe and bring these NeoCon parisites to bay.

  6. Beautiful interview.

Douglas Feith was trying so hard to pick the right words to use to defend his assertion. Unfortunately, he never realized that his best chance would have been to start inventing words.

    Colbert should really help him.

  7. Just a comment about so many who say that Jon missed his calling. That he should have been a "real" news journalist. He is a "real" news journalist. Some guy at some point in time said: a rose by any other name smells as sweet.

  8. A great moment in true "mass communication." Both Feith and Stewart had something to say, and they let each other say it. This is what productive conversation should be: It sets the stage for thoughtful reflection--and, with luck, action.

Jon, I know the pay would probably suck, but have you ever considered moonlighting on PBS? You could sneak in and use Charlie Rose's set when he's on "60 Minutes."

  9. Well done interview. I love how Jon Stewart made a joke out of this guy and his theories. Errors aren't lies but when a war is fought without giving the facts and motives, then it transcends error and becomes a lie to cover up the error of judgement behind it.

  10. The most insightful, persistent, probing and decorous interview on these subjects consistently take place under the banner of Comedy Central.

While we all understand that this is deeply disturbing, we have to be profoundly thankful that it happens at all. Bravo CC, Bravo Jon.

So many holes in Feith's rationalizations. So little time.

    Regards,

    fp
