The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: You Probably Don't Understand the Iraq War
Former Bush Administration Under Secretary of Defense Douglas Feith was on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart tonight to set the record straight on the Iraq war. Apparently we were not mislead misled into war. I believe him. Unless he's misleading me now...
Anyway, Jon started summer early by firing up the grill and sticking Feith on it. Listen to the defense of a man who was in the room when all the planning went down and decide if it flips your script.

yea abob is a little misinformed and ignorant about the different races and the factors that played into the current situation in iraq. he should understand that there were different conditions and a different situation at the end of the iraq war,(which had bullets) as to the end of the cold war(which didnt). it is true that cultural factors played a part in the reaction to "liberation" in iraq but it is not as simple as that. to think that white people are superior to these "primitive" arabs and that it was their "nature" to react in such a chaotic way is naive and shameful. my email is andyha7396@aim.com if you want to discuss this further.
Yeah, Arabs aren't primitive. They basically invented math as we know it. There's a reason we call our number "Arabic numerals".
Seriously though, "primitive arab culture"? Read a history book you moron.
Wow, I do believe abob (below) is a racist bigot.
Removing Saddam Hussein was a noble decision. The Bush administration miscalculated the primitive nature of Arab culture in the aftermath of their liberation from dictatorial tyranny. Iraqi Arabs did not embrace liberation and the blessings of democracy like the liberated nations of Eastern Europe after the breakup of the Soviet Union. The tribal Iraqi hatreds came to a boiling point in the absence of an Iraqi strongman.
The whole Bush administration was living in an imaginary future of their own choosing. If it weren't so sad, it would be laughable how the White House insists Hussein was more of a threat than North Korea. Also, Bush lacks common sense by focusing on his self-created future instead of the present. He just wanted to make his daddy happy by finishing the job of doing away with Hussein! Bush is a dirty, rotten, lying scoundrel!
Serenity, my Sweetie, remember this Blog wouldn't be here if it wasn't for My Stephen.
I am willing to admit that I voted for George. George Clooney, that is. He's almost as cute as Jon. ;)
I think you all do not get it. Cheney couldn't run so they got empty headed but charming George. As in any crime, you follow the money, what was the motivation? Our country may be deeply in debt but there are many who made great profits from it. Follow that trail. Cheney and a select group invaded for oil. Even McCain has figured it out. And when things didn't go as smoothly as planned, they had to come up with something. But it is not just this administration's fault. I knew GB in Texas, a crook. I knew from the get go what he was up to, why didn't the congress figure it out? And don't give me the information bullshit. I had no information, just common sense.
No excuses. Let's move on. Get out and vote Obama. The man is not an idiot, he gets it even if you all don't.
This interview was almost everything interviews in the so-called main-stream media SHOULD be. Jon was decisive, clear headed and he asked the tough questions. But he was respectful enough to give his guest a chance to explain himself and he (Jon) did not resort to shouting.
The only thing that was a little unfair was that the audience kept interupting to applaud, that wasn't exactly balanced. I don't think I would approve for example, if a crowd started booing Barack Obama in the middle of an interview on some "real" news show.... But hey this is a comedy show! I think they can be forgiven for not being held to the "absolutely perfectly fair" bar.
