The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: You Probably Don't Understand the Iraq War
Former Bush Administration Under Secretary of Defense Douglas Feith was on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart tonight to set the record straight on the Iraq war. Apparently we were not mislead misled into war. I believe him. Unless he's misleading me now...
Anyway, Jon started summer early by firing up the grill and sticking Feith on it. Listen to the defense of a man who was in the room when all the planning went down and decide if it flips your script.

Thanks Jon!
You have saved us, once again, from the oh so self inflatede cable news talking heads and shown us that there is in fact some intelligence on Cable Television.
They say an abusive husband can make his wife challenge her reality. Don't lie Doug. We all remember what was presented to us.
Why do you think the fucking terrorist guru quit?!
Thank you Jon,
If the last 7 years has been a learning experience on how to dodge responsibility, accountability and to use propaganda against the public; your interview was a lesson on how the press should engage the leadership in nudging them that we do not live in a totalitarian society. Your follow up questions and preparation made it impossible for one of the constructs of the worst foreign policy blunder this nation has ever seen worm his way back into the darkness of vagueness blurring the lines of accountability that was perfected by the Iran Contra hearings of the eighties. You could not hear me, but as I watched your interview I was yelling FINALLY!!!!!
I want to give a shout out to my Nephew Don, Good luck in Iraq, I am praying to keep you safe little Don.
It's a sad sad day in Our First Amendment history when a g-damd comedy show is starts to surpass the integrity to the likes of CNN. I can't wait til the next Daily Show. Wish you were on for an hour, or, hell, -all day! Real anchoring, by one hellofa guy. Thanks Jon! I'm buying another case of Doritos and stuffin' my fat face while watching you tonight my friend. You have -my- attention; you -should- have the attention of ALL the other News Anchors. Period. Hell, I hear the damn school bell ringin' rightfrickennow. Schools in! Sit down all you other wanna be "journalist," Jon's showin' ya how its done tonight! Hugs!
I was quite disappointed when Jon let Doug Feith get away with his blatant lies and spin that Bush didn't come into office hell-bent on going to war with Iraq and the war was merely an offshoot of 9-11.
Here are the facts as stated by a reliable authority:
"The hour was almost up. Bush had assignments for everyone. Powell and his team would look to draw up a new sanctions regime. Rumsfeld and Shelton, he said, 'should examine our military options.' That included rebuilding the military coalition from the 1991 Gulf War, examining 'how it might look' to use U.S. ground forces in the north and the south of Iraq and how the armed forces could support groups inside the country who could help challenge Saddam Hussein. Tenet would report on improving our current intelligence. O'Neill would investigate how to financially squeeze the regime.
Meeting adjourned. Ten days in, and it was about Iraq." - The Price of Loyalty (p.75) - Paul O'Neill, Bush's former Treasury Secretary and Chairman of Alcoa.
Remember, this was just ten days after Bush took office and months before 9-11. I hope Jon would see fit to interview Paul O'Neill on this issue.
I would like to start a campaign to award Jon Stewart the Pulitzer for news reporting, political commentary, or whatever they are willing to give him. Jonathan Swift was also a genius who used satire to address issues. Dickens also. Orwell. The list goes on. Stewart for Pulitzer!!!!!
Feith STILL does not get it ~~~~~ !
!!!Jon Stewart!!! I have many hero's. Einstein, Rutherford, Newton, Galileo, (Gillis & Lords ;?) ,and now You. That wasn't just "good" work; THAT WAS FRRRRICKING OUTSTANDING!!! Smootches! awizkid
Great work, Jon. The smartest discussions on international politics are on comedy central. I would never have believed that 10 years ago.
It is a sad statement on our current situation when the best place to get an intelligent discourse on current events is on a "fake news program". Well done Mr. Stewart. It also amazes me that people now say they bought the drivel our government was feeding us in 2001 and 2002 about on Iraq. It seemed so transparent even then.
