Please Stop Bothering War Hero John McCain With Unrelated Questions

POSTED BY: CubbyChaser

Say what you will about John McCain: as a prisoner-of-war in Vietnam he faced a greater test than most of us -- in our relatively comfy civilian lives -- will ever have to face. He survived isolation, torture, and more than five years without seeing his home or family.

And as a true war hero, he will never, ever cheapen this experience by using it as some sort of political trump card when he's confronted with questions he doesn't like...

When Elizabeth Edwards, wife of former Senator John Edwards, rebuked McCain's medical-care proposal and noted that he'd always enjoyed government health benefits, McCain responded that he knows what it's like to get inadequate care -- "from another government."

Okay, so a President McCain would not model his health care policy on that of the North Vietnamese four decades ago. That's good, I guess.

Under fire as a senator for questionable dealings with an Arizona friend and supporter during the savings-and-loan scandal, McCain fumed: "Even the Vietnamese didn't question my ethics."

True. But then, they weren't in danger of having him run their country.

  1. My dad was a prisoner of war, severly abused in multiple attempts at escape. War hero?, that term never crossed his mind..he just had the poor luck to get shot down. The difference with John McCain? He's got a dad and grandda who were Admirals, and he married a trust fund baby. McCain doesn't seem like much of a leader to me, and I doubt he's ever gone an honest day's work in his adult life. Mr. SilverSpoon is a better label.

  2. Hilo, that was freakin' hilarious. You know, I heard that he is actually held together with those brads people use to bind paper and that whenever he's feeling down he asks Cindy to waterboard him. He enjoys the trip down memory lane and it makes her happy to see someone in vast amounts of pain. I am so scared for our country right now... Dems better pull it together.

  4. Beware those who cloak themselves in the flag, it's often there to hide something they don't want you to see.

  5. I never heard anyone invoke Vietnam more than McCain, to excuse his crap. It's almost like he never came home.
You're not above being questioned, John; this isn't Vietnam anymore.
