Catching Up With A Loser: Joe Biden and Chris Dodd
Join former United States Senate Pages Dylan and Ethan Ris as they bring you the dish on not just the presidential race but all the exciting triumphs and disgraces inside, outside, and below the Beltway!

Catching Up With A Loser! It's time to reveal the identity of Congressional Confidential's next presidential dropout, profiled in chronological order. Mr. Blitzer, the envelope please... And it's a tie!! Congratulations to both Senators Joe Biden (D-DE) and Chris Dodd (D-CT)!
Biden and Dodd, making good on a childhood playground vow, ended their presidential campaigns on the same day, January 3, 2008. (This is notable because, unlike all candidates heretofore profiled, they stuck around long enough to lose an actual primary.) Previously, the two white, male, mid-60's Senators from irrelevant states had both announced their candidacies on Imus In The Morning within a month of each other, both polled behind Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) through August 2007, and both dated Bianca Jagger -- oh wait, that was only Dodd.
As the Iowa caucuses approached, Biden began pulling ahead of Dodd both in the polls and in the tally of possibly racist comments -- three to Dodd's one. And sure enough, when Iowans emerged from their crowded barns on the night of January 3, Biden had defeated his dear friend Dodd, 0.93% to 0.02%!
The night was particularly sad for Dodd on two counts: First was the news that Biden would have endorsed him had he somehow managed to stay in the race. Second was the realization that not only had he lost to his comrade from Delaware, but also to his wry and dastardly foe "Uncommitted"!
As you might imagine, Biden and Dodd have drifted apart since their fateful co-drop-out of January 3. Dodd has been preoccupied with his sweetheart loan deal from Countrywide Financial while Biden is currently delayed on an Amtrak train that was scheduled to arrive in Wilmington on May 17. For now, the hope among Beltway Insiders is that the pair can be persuaded to reunite on a nostalgia tour and finish the job right -- by co-losing the 2012 presidential elections!

Dodd is dropping in the polls. Replace him with Paul Newman before it's too late. http://blogs.courant.com/on_background/2008/07/poll-results-not-so-great-for.html
I have an apology to make. Earlier I posted a YouTube clip of a family happily playing around the tunnels of The Capitol. It was not "amusing or insightful in any way." Rob I believe was referring to a comment I made before leaving for dinner.
Unless the single scotch I drank at dinner is playing with me, I noticed it was removed when I got home. Rob, could not be referring to the above article in the comment, but rather, the clip I had posted. If I am wrong on this post removal, then, I'd still like to apologize for something anyhow.
Firstly, I've been feeling guilty over this for some time when I posted a comment concerning pages and interns on the Hill in the early 90's. It was in poor taste upon reflection. The buck stops here.
I make no excuses. Whatever attempt at hyperbole I made does not fit into its definition and I feel bad.
The experience I had on The Hill was terrific and a long time ago now. I hope more people read and comment here in earnest.
As to Biden and Dodd to get on point, I happen to think they are both outstanding. Despite perceived remarks concerning race and the comedic spin on it, which I can appreciate, it's kind of too bad. However, Biden would make for an excellent person in the Cabinet as would Dodd. But for the 3 comments and plagarism, I'd say he'd make a great Veep choice (aside from Hillary).
Finally, the YouTube link I posted (I think) was of a Mom, a daughter who is appears to be some sort of staffer or intern, and her little sister playing around in the tunnels of The Capitol.
The point was an effort to show what Pages had to go through, when trekking from House to Senate side and vice versa. Perhaps Pages remain in Chambers mostly and do not have to roam what the girls in the video describe as "THE DARKEST PIT OF DOOM." Basically, I was trying to show the folks the difficulty of being a Page and was inartfully expressing as much without the aforementioned explanation.
I apologize.
That in mind, perhaps now the context of what I wrote can be better understood with a funny video on YouTube of an area few see who have never worked in The Capitol. The miles of tunnels one must toil through.
So, here is the clip with some context and again a sincere apology. Peace.
And, if Pages did not have to run through "The Pit of Doom," they were indeed lucky.

"For more than 175 years, messengers known as pages have served the United States
Congress. Currently, approximately 100 young men and women from across the nation
serve as pages at any given time. Pages must be high school juniors and at least 16 years
of age. Several incumbent and former Members of Congress as well as other prominent
Americans have served as congressional pages.
Senator Daniel Webster appointed the first Senate page in 1829. The first House
pages began their service in 1842. Women were first appointed as pages in 1971.
Pages are appointed and sponsored by a Representative or Senator for one
academic semester of the school year, or a summer session. The right to appoint pages
rotates among Members pursuant to criteria set by the respective chamber leadership.
Academic standing is one of the most important criteria used in the final selection of
pages. Prospective pages are advised to contact their Senators or Representative to
request consideration for a page appointment. For additional discussion of the page
system, see CRS Report RL33685, Pages of the United States Congress: History,
Background Information, and Proposals for Change, by Mildred Amer." --Official Site For Congressional Pages
Biden for VP! Dodd for... jail? Not even 1% between the two of them. Amazing.
What's your point...neither amusing or insightful in any way.
