Dick Cheney vs. the New York Giants: Who's Most Likely to Chop Block John McCain?
For weeks we've been wondering if Dick Cheney would get a speaking slot at the Republican National Convention next month. On the one hand, he holds the second-highest office in America.
On the other hand, he holds the distinction of being the most unpopular elected official in America. And possibly the multiverse.
Because of that John McCain has avoided making appearances with Cheney, leading to rumors that the vice president would be shut out of the RNC's festivities in St. Paul.
Turns out they're making time for him after all...
"The vice president looks forward to participating in the Republican National Convention and continuing to work for the election of Sen. McCain and other Republican candidates in the coming months," the White House said in a statement [that made John McCain whimper slightly].
But that's not the only thing that could undermine McCain's big moment...
McCain's biggest convention problem may not be Bush or Cheney, but the fact that Sept. 4–the night he makes his nomination speech–also happens to kick off the 2008 NFL season.
NBC will air a highly anticipated Washington Redskins vs. New York Giants game. TVNewser reported Wednesday that NBC News has been working with NBC Sports and the Republican National Committee on timing. If the game goes long, McCain would most likely delay his speech.
Man, that's sad. War hero John McCain, a prisoner of NFL scheduling.
Where are Mike Huckabee's imaginary cheerleaders when you really need them?

If the NFL game gets preempted, the media must call it Heidigate.
Even John McCain cannot escape being pre-empted by the NFL.
@McCfly down under--Great Scott! You are operating on a multiverse level. How did you know what I was going to say in the future? The Giants were 1.21 gigowatts of luck, Trent Dilfer was better than Manning and I hate the Pats, but the Giants were one of the biggest joke teams to win since a bum named Hostetler won it with them. Even though you probably meant the poster picking Washington, I'd still like to take this opportunity to mention the Giants suck.
Vegas has The NFL at -14.5 over McCain in the Nielsen ratings. Smart money's on McCain because Sunday Night Football isn't really a show and the Giants only won on a multiverse level.
Contrary to an idiot's belief (above), the Giants will wipe the proverbial floor with the Redskins! If this was ESPN's comment section, your comment would not have made it through do to utter and complete inaccuracy! GO BIG BLUE!!!!
I beg to differ -- it will be the Redskins that will attract the attention. The entire political establishment in Washington will want to watch the Skins roll over the Giants, like they did last time.
Wait, is this not ESPN's comment section?
McCain does not inspire excitement, I read about a Possible DUI he had gotten a few years ago and it seems that has gotten swept under the rug some how too. I think the story was at http://www.mccanes.com or http://duihelpguide.com It was at one of those sites. Im going to stay home this
