Countdown to Electiony: 83 Days
Although fighting had for the most part already ceased earlier in the year -- when Great Britain formally recognized the independence of the United States of America -- it was not until September 3, 1783, with the signing of the Treaty of Paris, that the American Revolution officially came to an end.
This, of course, led to much debate about the direction the independent states would take, which, of course, led to the emergence of a federal American political system.
Speaking of which, this was also the year that two Parisian guys made the first ever flight in a balloon craft that was entirely fueled by hot air.
Coincidence?
Go back to Day 84.

The Treaty of Paris is hot.
Too bad the treaty didn't include a provision for us to teach the French how to swim, eh?
