The Life and Loves of Expelled Libertarian Candidate Sonny Landham
Last month, we introduced you to the troubled Libertarian senatorial candidate Sonny Landham.
Unsurprisingly, the Libertarian Party did decide to dump him from their ticket. And we don't know exactly why, but it may have had something to do with his controversial political positions, his race-baiting and his numerous sexual exploits available on VHS.
Here is a brief accounting of Landham's star-spangled career...
The 1970's: Landham makes it big in pornography, starring in such films as "Slippery When Wet," "The Honey Cup," and "Naked Came the Stranger."
The 1980's: Landham moves into mainstream films, including his acclaimed role as Pool Worker #2 in "Poltergeist." In 1987, he scores the biggest role of his life, as Billy in "Predator," where his political ideals would be forged, shooting huge guns out in the jungle alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura.
1998: Landham is arrested for making threatening phone calls to his ex-wife and serves 31 months in federal prison.
2003: Landham completes the Predator triumvirate and enters the race for Governor of Kentucky as a Republican candidate. Somehow, he loses.
2007: Landham declares his candidacy for the Senate seat held by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). The desperate Libertarian Party nominates him.
2008: Landham calls Arabs "ragheads" and "camel-dung shovelers," proposes invading the entire Middle East to "kill every thing that moves," and describes global warming as "the greatest fraud ever perpetrated."
2008 (later): Landham dropped from Libertarian ticket for some reason.
However, there's no reason for fans of Predator/porn/racism/wife-threatening to despair: Lanham has already announced his candidacy for Governor in 2011!

Nice article, but if the Libertarian Party was desperate, why did they get rid of him? Get real. Libertarians stand for human rights, this fellow didn't, advocating bombing defenseless children.
Libertarians have no difficulty electing and getting appointed candidates who are Libertarians, which this actor wasn't. While a Senate post is good, as a localist and individualist approach, unsurprisingly most Libertarian work is at the local and interlocal level.

He still has the edge on Mitch McConnell.
