Oh Lawdy, Those "Uppity" Obamas Sure Do Distress Lynn Westmoreland

POSTED BY: Mary Phillips-Sandy

Yesterday Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.) took a break from sippin' lemonade on his front porch to jaw a spell with some pencil-pushin' pals, and soon enough talk turned to them current events...

Westmoreland was discussing vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's speech with reporters outside the House chamber and was asked to compare her with Michelle Obama.

"Just from what little I've seen of her and Mr. Obama, Sen. Obama, they're a member of an elitist-class individual that thinks that they're uppity," Westmoreland said.

Asked to clarify that he used the word "uppity," Westmoreland said, "Uppity, yeah."

Yessir, that's what he said. Uppity. U-p-p-i-t-y. Goodness gracious, don't these reporters know you never question the word of a Southern Gentleman?

  1. "All those in favor of this guy being Obama's shoe-shine boy, say 'Aye.'"

    Aye!

It isn't like this guy is doing anything in Congress...

  2. capt jack, The problem with your comparison is the shop smashing was being done by your liberal left wing socialist friends. Did you note the low levels of violence and protest at the Democratic convention? That’s because we Republican do not feel we need to throw feces at the police like zoo monkeys to make a point. If you hurry you can get to Berkley and tie yourself to a tree like Mr. Dumpster Dude.

  4. For a redneck from Georgia, anyone who can speak in complete, grammatically correct, well-formed sentence must be "uppity" :-)

  5. I agree, Kia. Sadly while this campaign and voters can countenance racists, they can't countenance a black candidate saying that racists are what they are. I just hope the republican strategy backfires this time around.

  9. Kinda surprised the Republicans went through the whole convention week without calling him "boy" or just throwing down the n-word. They must be holding it in like CRAZY.

  10. By far my most favorite Twain quotation and most relevant

"Suppose you were an idiot and suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself." - Mark Twain
