Jackie Mason Battles Sarah Silverman for the Jewish Vote
About a week or so ago, we brought you Sarah Silverman's very funny Jewish call to arms.
Now ABC reports, Jackie Mason has thrown his yarmulke into the ring...
"Mason, a supporter of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., kvetched that Silverman 'didn't tell you one good reason to vote for him,' faulting Silverman for implying Obama opponents are bigots."
Jackie Mason kvetches for McCain?! Doesn't he know Barack is a Semitic name, meaning "blessing"? Sure McCain's name in Hebrew might mean "maverick," but I'm pretty sure his voting record in any language means "Bush."
I'm not sure if Jackie Mason doesn't understand satire, or if he understands it really really well. Doesn't he know laugh tracks are outdated? He calls Sarah Silverman a yenta. Isn't that a Barbara Streisand movie? This video really raises more questions than it answers.
At least there's still someone making valid political statements using the power of the viral video.

@DaveW --It's personal with me and this alta-kaka Jackie Mason. Not so much as a Jew who is pro-Obama. Rodney not only was a hero to me, but a friend when I was I was a kid. Sort of a dirty uncle. When the web started up, he had one of the first comedians I can remember who had a web-site and he actually wrote back to people. It's still around and his wife Joan (who helped him start it). One of my first memories of him was him sticking his entire body in my freezer and ribbing my Mom about how much it was lacking. I'll never forget. His belly was hanging out of his unbuttoned shirt, he went in rummaging around for something and yelled out, "Hey! Where's the ice-cream? What the Hell kind of house doesn't have ice-cream." My Mom offered him a carrot and reminded him there were kids in the room.
As to his relationship with Jackie Mason, I fully remember the bullshit with Caddyshack 2. I also remember the painful tears I had when I was forced to go see his show on Broadway. So, I would like nothing more than to see a Jew ghetto war between Jackie Mason and Sarah Silverman. In fact, this came up at dinner tonight with my whole family. My Mom heard of Sarah Silverman's web ad. And then we started talking of times with Rodney. He was crazy, but hysterical and always took time with me and my little brother. The only negative thing I ever heard (I consider drugs, women, Sam Kinison, Dice, Saget, and others to be positives), was shit about Jackie Mason (not from him directly).
So, I hope Sarah blasts this old fucker back to the cave he crawled out of.

Mary, how is McCain going to rid us of the neocons when he selected one as VP? Your arguement might have held water 8 years ago. But dude has been bending over for the neocons since he lost to Bush in 1999. And in turn I have lost all of my respect for him.

Neo-Cons are not the same as the old style Republicans. If you make that distinction, things become a lot clearer.
For one thing, the Neo-Cons have endangered our position in the world as champions of human rights. This is something that is intimately tied to our relationship with Israel. Our current government (compliments of the Bush dynasty) has chosen rights to Arab oil (the material) over our commitment to human rights (the spiritual), which again is symbolized by our relationship with Israel.
Going back on any international agreements that were made after WWII backpeddles on our human rights agenda and opens the door to a thousand Holocausts. We should revisit that lesson in our hearts before the wolf comes to the door.
I trust McCain to rid us of the Neo-Cons as well as Neo-Con policy and to use measured responses to threats and aggression based on solid moral principles. Ask Jimmy Carter what that means.
