The Daily Show: Sarah Palin and Joe Biden Hold A Common Man-Off

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

The vice presidential candidates want to prove they're just like everybody else by dropping street names and American archetypes. Joe Biden sees Sarah Palin's Main Street and raises her a Katie's Restaurant, but Palin comes back with a Joe Six Pack.

Which candidate came across most like an everyday American?

  2. I wish the candidate would discuss global poverty more. According to The Borgen Project:
$30 billion: Annual shortfall to end world hunger.
$540 billion: Annual U.S. Defense Budget.

  4. Who is most like the everyday American? I wish I could say Biden...I guess...but the average American (I'm not saying everyone!) is just like Palin: ignorant. Can we say loyal Walmart customer?

  5. Am I the only one who's noticed the simularity between McCain and Palin and that famous television duo of the sixties Rocky and Bullwinkle? Look closely, McCain has chipmonk cheeks and waits a full 2 beats after he makes a "joke" to pump his elbows and smile. While Palin, with her fat mooselike butt her googlie eyes and her inability to answer a question that she's been asked is a dead ringer for the moose.(not to mention Alaska). John, pull up any Rocky and Bullwinkle episode and play it split screen with Palin and McCain together. I believe the Republicans have noticed this and that's why we very rarely see the too of them together anymore. Then add Boris Bushenough as the evil villian

  7. Yo Zachary, I lived in Ketchikan and Juneau as a young school child when derby salmon still weighed 60 - 100 lbs ... and for me Alaska remains a natural treasure ... I do not consider all Alaskans responsible for this woman. Certainly not. I do think what you need to do and many of us in Oregon will help you is to not allow her to drill Anwar. The historian Douglas Brinkley recently suggested that Palin read Rachel Carson's The Silent Spring. Brinkley said then she would not want to drill Anwar. I don't think it would change her because I don't think she listens to or respects anyone. I think she's a very competitive ambitious egocentric woman with horrible politics. So anyhow, I like what you said here.

  8. If you want a straight-talking, honest, caring President and Vice President for the next four years, the duopoly is not it. Don't count on Obama and Biden for "hope." They're not it. Check out votenader.org to see why.

Make Palin and Biden debate Matt Gonzalez, and make McCain and Obama debate Ralph Nader! This DemRep duopoly is not democracy.

  10. Fantastic! I grew up in a town about 60 miles from Wasilla Alaska. I even had the opportunity to play hockey against many Wasilla youth teams. Jason Jones's reporting of the debate made my soul laugh and cry at the same time. I am embarrassed to be an Alaskan. I plead with other responders to this post not to write off all Alaskans. I am disgusted by her mannerism, stupidity, and blind faith. She does not represent my Alaska. There are a lot of people just like myself who feel the shame she has brought us. I am a political science major and have debate experience. She has offended nearly all of my senses. Keep reporting on Wasilla because I am certain that through rampant drug use and an overall pool of ignorant red necks this place will certainly become the worst town on earth.
