Breaking News: Barack Obama Has a Name
Here's a fresh question from CNN for people following the 2008 presidential election to wrap their heads around...
Forget the issues, forget the personalities, forget everything about U.S. politics. The most important question about the 2008 election may be this: Can a man named Barack Hussein Obama be elected president?
The page doesn't seem to have a date on it, but according to the Google News homepage, it was posted by CNN about an hour ago. And the author of the piece is named Jonathan Mann -- not Rip Van Winkle or my dad -- so I have no idea what the hell is going on.
Later in the article, Mann makes this very thoughtful observation...
Since the attacks of September 11, 2001 set off a war on terror against Muslim extremists, the US has been grappling with its feelings about Islam as well.
Whoa! Consider my mind blown.
I checked and checked and checked, but could find no information on what color the sky is or how President Bush pronounces "nuclear." But I'll keep my eyes firmly planted on CNN and report back what I discover.

One more thing... If I had a dollar for every time I heard Obama referred to as "Black Democratic Candidate" I could fund the Iraqi war and set the price of gas. As a show of balanced reporting, I ask that you refer to John McCain as "The White Republican Candidate" the next 1682 times. If you want to fast track things, you can also refer to him as "The 72 year old white guy running for President" 841 times instead.
