Hillary Clinton Now Destroying Other People's Countries, Too

A quick cross-cultural note before I continue: in Brit-speak "No. 10" is not shorthand for "Eliot Spitzer's brother," as I first thought.

Turns out No. 10 Downing Street is the British version of the White House, where the British version of the president lives or works or messes with interns or bangers and mash or whatever.

And today No. 10 is embroiled in an international scandal, and it's all Hillary Clinton's fault!

A deeply embarrassed [Prime Minister] Gordon Brown today found himself being wrongly lauded by Hillary Clinton for "boycotting" the Beijing Olympics.

To the fury of No. 10, his decision to miss the rituals that will start the 2008 Games was being reported around the world as a snub to China.

Downing Street desperately tried to douse the story by pointing out that it had been saying for months that the Prime Minister would only attend the closing ceremony, where the torch will be symbolically passed from Beijing to London 2012.

See, Hillary has been going around praising Brown for his decision to skip the opening ceremonies, and the media has been all "Oooh, Hillary's pal Gordon is totally giving China the proverbial finger here, just like she wanted him to," and now the British government is trying to explain that really, Brown never intended to go to the ceremonies, but it was just some kind of scheduling issue, not a self-aggrandizing symbolic statement.

An aghast Downing Street desperately put out the message that there was no boycott and no snub...

It suggested that No. 10 had been cack-handed for allowing the confusion.

Okay, I have no idea what that last part means. But I am pretty sure it's still Hillary's fault.

With as increasing irrelevance as the Olympics are to the everyday lives of people, what is the “value” of a boycott of the game’s opening ceremony anyway? So you miss out on all the children dancing in circles in pretty colors, the ambiguous mascots, the prerecorded neo-classical music, the fireworks, and the endless parade of athletes who are really great at doing something no one cares about. Yeah, I can see how important that stand is to take.

ScandalGate: Democratic Senator's Husband Pulling a Spitzer on Big Beaver

Democrats -- buoyed by the prospect of big, big wins in the White House, Senate and House of Reps this upcoming November -- are working valiantly and tirelessly to fuck it all up...

The co-founder and former CEO of the liberal-progressive Democracy Radio and husband of U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow [from Michigan] was caught in February by a Troy police sting aimed at catching prostitutes, according to a police report.

Thomas L. Athans was stopped Feb. 26 by undercover officers investigating a possible prostitution ring in a room at the Residence Inn near Big Beaver and Interstate 75. Athans paid a 20-year-old prostitute $150 for sex in a Troy hotel but was not arrested, according to police reports obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by The Detroit News.

In case you're not familiar with Big Beaver Road in Michigan, it's really easy to find. Just hang a right at Exit 69.

We can only assume that this all went down at the Residence Inn over in Fingerbang, Michigan. You know, the one over by the Angry Dragon Burger and Dirty Sanchez' Ford Dealership.
